Disney World Volunteering

The staff at SunKiss Villas enjoys Disney World volunteering.

We volunteer at various Disney events whenever we get the chance. It is a fun experience and a great way to give our time to help some great charities.

Disney World VolunteeringDisney World hosts several events throughout the year that require a lot of help. Those events include marathons and Special Olympic events. The beneficiary for each event varies but have included:

  1. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
  2. Animal conservation Fund
  3. Special Olympics
  4. Children’s Miracle Network
  5. And Others

It has been our pleasure to give a little of our time to benefit some of these great charities.

We are especially pleased that Children’s Miracle Network will be the beneficiary of the 2014 Princess Half Marathon at Disney World. Children’s Miracle Network holds a special place in our heart because of our own situation and we know many families with special needs children have been helped by this great organization.

This event will have about 50,000 participants and will require the help of a few thousand volunteers over the course of a week or more. This includes preparation time ahead of the event just to get things ready. SunKiss Villas staff will be volunteering for some of the preparation as well as for part of the marathon day event support.

Disney World Volunteering - Wheel Chair AthletesWe were privileged to help out with the wheelchair athletes at the Disney Marathon weekend. Our hats are off to them for a great accomplishment. Pictured here are 2 of the wheelchair athletes with our special guy (Matthew) between. Scott (pictured on the left in red) is the 1st wheelchair athlete to be officially awarded a medal for the “Dopey” challenge, which is 4 race events in the same weekend. The Dopey challenge is awarded to athletes who complete the 5K race, the 10K race, the half marathon, and the full marathon (4 separate races totally more than 46 miles). Phil (pictured on the right in green) completed the “Goofy” challenge which is 2 race events in the same weekend (half and full marathon.) All the wheelchair athletes are a tribute to the “can do” and won’t take “no” for an answer attitude. Thanks to all the athletes, especially the wheelchair athletes, for the inspiration you give us. WELL DONE!!

We would like to say thank you to the volunteers who give their time and energy to help in these events as well as the runners whose participation goes to benefit these charities. We are happy we can be a part of it.

Good luck to all the runners in the Princess Half Marathon!
